Former Brentwood Town footballer Christian Mbulu has died aged just 23.
The young defender was found dead at his home near Preston after suffering heart failure.
Police had this afternoon been called to the address at Cottam near Preston, with the death not being treated as suspicious, reports The Mirror.
Christian started his career at Brentwood in 2013 where he played for two seasons until 2015.
He doubled up in Essex, also playing for Braintree in 2017 on loan from Milwall.
His career took him across the country, playing for Crewe, Motherwell and most recently made three appearances for Morecombe.
Brentwood Town paid tribute to him on Twitter: “We have some very sad news to bring to you. Reports coming in that ex Brentwood Town player Christian Mbulu has sadly passed away at the young age of 23.
“Christian went on to play for Millwall, Motherwell, Crewe and Morecambe. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.”
While he was at Brentwood, he played a total of 72 games across two seasons including a play-off winning 2014–15 campaign of the Isthmian League north under the management of Adam Flanagan.
In his time at the club the young defender attracted interest from a number of league clubs such as Dagenham & Redbridge and Norwich City.

A spokesman for the force said: We were called at around 1.30pm today (May 26) to an address on Greenfinch Avenue, Cottam, to reports of a sudden death.
